Glencore zinc operations sustains in the heavy rain

On Wednesday morning the lead smelting in the mine was temporarily interrupted by the rain, but later the scenario returned to normal, and the mine restarted its smelting later that day.

CSANBERRA (Scrap Monster): On Wednesday morning the lead smelting in the mine was temporarily interrupted by the rain, but later the scenario returned to normal, and the mine restarted its smelting later that day. The matter had not affected the production volumes of the mine, stated a report which was published by the company for the media.
 
 The company stated that, the operations in the company’s Mount Isa Mines remain to be unaffected by the recent heavy rainfalls. He also added that, there had been no damage to the plant or to the equipments in the plant.
 
  According to the report given by MMG Ltd, the owner of Century Mines, the mine which is located in Queensland, which is one of the largest zinc mines in the world, also remains to be unaffected by the rain.
 
 The Mount Isa region of the country had been receiving a tremendous amount of rainfall from the beginning of the year, which is recorded to be up to 125mm, near to the George Fisher zinc mine, and 98 mm near to the Black Star zinc mine.
 
 Since, the 1st of January, 190.2mm of rain has been recorded in the Mount Isa region of the country. There are also forecast for the possibility of thunderstorms in the region beginning on Monday.
 
 The region is the largest source of zinc in the country, and also concentrates all the zinc production of Glencore worldwide.  The company is also the second largest copper producing company in Australia, and owns two underground mines in Mount Isa
