SHANGHAI, Jan. 7 (SMM) – China’s new export rebate policy for copper semis may help improve its refined copper demand, Wenhua.com.cn, citing Jiangxi Copper’s Deputy General Manager, reported.
China’s Ministry of Finance recently announced a 9% new export rebate for several copper semis and an increase in export rebate for copper foil to 17%. Wu Yuneng, Deputy General Manager of Jiangxi Copper, said the new policy may push up refined copper demand and expected an at least 6% growth in China’s copper demand in 2015.
Wu noted that the growing investment in power sector and railway construction will also serve as a major driver of China’s copper demand in the last year of China’s 12th Five-Year Plan period.
