NEW DELHI (Scrap Monster): The mine, which is located in Jharkhand, has an annual capacity of about 10 million tonnes of iron ore, which is very much important for the supply in the company’s 9.8 million tonnes per annum Jamashedpur steel plant.
The official associated with the company, stated that, the mine started its operation from the 1st of January 2015. The iron ore mine would reach its full capacity within 2-3 days. The rated capacity of the mine is noted to be 10 million tonnes per annum.
The mine has been shuttered since the month of September, last year, due to issues regarding the miners license renewal, which forced the company import about 5 million tonnes of iron ore.
Based on the interpretation of the Supreme Court Directive, this does not provide leverage for the second renewals or for the subsequent renewals. The incident lead to the closure of about 40 mines in Odisha and also Jharkhand, which belongs to SAIL, Tata Steel and other steel manufacturers.
The closure of the mine, lead to the temporary shut down of the company’s blast furnace for over a month. The shut down of the iron ore mine has also affected the company’s stability on the operations, cost structure and also the operations during the October and December period.
