BRUSSELS (Scrap Monster): According to the recent data published by the World Steel Association, the crude steel production by North American countries edged higher by 2.4% during the month of November year-on-year.
The total crude steel production by Canada during November this year was 1.075 Mt, higher than the November 2013 production of 1.055 Mt by 1.9%. The US produced 7.209 Million tonnes of crude steel, higher by 1.5% when compared to 7.100 Million tonnes production achieved during November 2013. The total crude steel production by Mexico rose 8.8% from 1.442 Mt in November 2013 to 1.570 Mt in November this year.
The Cuban crude steel production declined by 9.1% to 30,000 tonnes. The crude steel output by El Salvador was estimated at 10,000 tonnes in November this year, down by 16.2% when compared with 12,000 tonnes a year before. Guatemala produced 35,000 tonnes in November, down 9.8% from a year ago. The crude steel output by Trinidad & Tobago plunged by 29.3% in November this year to 32,000 tonnes from 46,000 tonnes during same month the previous year.
The following table provides cumulative crude steel output for the first eleven months in 2014 in comparison with those during same period in 2013.
