SHANGHAI, Dec. 2 (SMM) – China exported 320,000 mt of aluminum semis in October, down 5.88% MoM, but up 23.08% YoY, customs data showed.
Extrusion exports jumped 27.32% YoY to 65,000 mt in October, and rose 19.63% YoY to 606,000 mt during January-October. Foil exports soared 33.72% YoY to 77,000 mt in October, and grew 13.94% YoY to 716,000 mt during January-October. Exports of plate/sheet and strip increased 12.45% YoY to 155,000 mt, and rose 4.34% YoY to 1.37 million mt through January-October.
Exports of mid and high-end aluminum semis held steady due to a stable consumer base. Outbound shipments of low-end products, in contrast, surged as tumbling SHFE/LME aluminum price ratio enticed Chinese producers to sell overseas.
Exports are expected to remain high for the foreseeable future.
