SHANGHAI, Nov. 28 (SMM) – The development of new-energy battery industry is gaining momentum in recent years in China. What pressures will be felt by domestic lead-acid battery producers, and what challenges will they take? 

“The new-energy battery market has great potential market and a promising market outlook, and our company has increased its R&D investment,” Zhou Zhaoxu, Vice Director of Purchase Department from Chaowei Power Co., said during 2014 SMM China Metals Summit.

However, the new-energy battery market is not mature, not as good as lead-acid batteries in recycling and safety, Zhou added at the summit on Nov. 23-24.  

“Lead-acid battery remain our main business, and will be not replaced by lithium battery and other new-energy batteries in short term,” Zhou told delegates.
