Zhenshi Group has begun importing ferronickel from Indonesian plants, Shanghai Metals Market learns.

SHANGHAI, Nov. 19 (SMM) – Zhenshi Group has begun importing ferronickel from Indonesian plants, Shanghai Metals Market learns.

The Zhejiang-based company imported a total of 2,761.42 tonnes of ferronickel during the first nine months of 2014. The company imported most of its ferronickel from Colombia during 1H 2014, but shifted to Indonesia during 2H due to lower shipping fees, to reduce costs, SMM adds, without adding suppliers.

The company’s ferronickel imports will go to Eastern Special Steel Co., its subsidiary, SMM expects.

The company becomes the second Chinese enterprise sourcing ferronickel from Indonesia.

One Fujian-based company was reportedly to import ferronickel from Indonesia from July. SMM learns that the company is in charge of sales in Chinese markets under its agreement with Bumi Modern Sejahtera.
