NEW DELHI (Scrap Monster): This new piece of information was obtained when, Rakesh Singh, the Union Steel Secretary, and GC Pati, the Chief Secretay, meet up, when the Union Steel Secretary, arrived to take the stock of steel left.

The Steel secretary, Rakesh Singh, stated that, there was no meeting held regarding the  Posco Project;  the 12 billion dollars worth steel plants, initiated by the Korean based company POSCO, in India, which was delayed due to certain controversies, as well as regulatory problems, he stated that, both the state  as well as the central government is committed to the issues regarding the project.

The state government has already signed about 50 Memorandum of Understanding, solely on steel. The  total capacity of the steel projects  has been estimated by the  state government as 80 million tonnes of steel.

According to the sources, even though, some of the steel projects in the state, has initiated production in their projects, the lack of availability of raw materials such as coal and iron ore are slowing down the state’s production. The closure of a large number of iron ore mines, upon the order of the Supreme Court, will add to their problem of lack of iron ore.
