According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), China’s copper concentrate output during the first four months of 2014 increased by 14.19% YoY to 571,000 mt.

SHANGHAI, May. 23 (SMM) – According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), China’s copper concentrate output during the first four months of 2014 increased by 14.19% YoY to 571,000 mt. April’s output was 155,000 mt, up 8.12% from a year earlier, but down 3.39% from March. Part of the blame rests on drought conditions in Yunnan and Sichuan, which interrupted some dressing operations. In addition, many workers at private mines returned home for the farming season, forcing mines to cut output. Copper concentrate output is expected to edge lower in May since current drought conditions are unlikely to ease.
