Novelis commences world’s largest aluminum recycling center

BERLIN (Scrap Monster): The 258 million dollar worth recycling center, is expected to process  about 400,000 metric tonnes aluminum scrap per year. This recycled aluminum is later processed aluminum ingot of high value.

The President and Chief Executive Officer of Novelis, Phil Martens stated that, the implementation of this recycling unit, would act as the milestone of the company’s procedure to become low carbon, aluminum sheet producer and shift the business of the company from the traditional model to closed loop mode. He also stated that, this initiation will add up to the prestigious recycling centers of the company in, North America, Asia, and South America, and would soon evolve the company as the global aluminum recycling leader.

Novelis, since the year 2011, has invested a total amount of, 500 million dollar, in the process of expanding the its recycling centers. In this course of time, the company has already doubled its annual capacity to 2.1 million metric tonnes, and also raised the company’s recycled content from 30 percent to 46 percent. The main goal of the company at the present is to achieve 80 percent of metal from recycling unit by the year 2020. Recycle aluminum ensures the savings of energy as well as other emissions produced while normal aluminum is produced,
