Alcoa unwraps world’s largest aluminum-lithium plant, in Indiana

WASHINGTON (Scrap Monster): The new aluminum-lithium plant of Alco, is the largest of the three already producing aluminum-lithium plants owned by the company. After the release of the statement based on the opening of the plant the share of the company rose up to 1.5 percent. The new aluminum-lithium plant of Alco which is worth about 90 million dollars, with advance technology is expected to produce at least 44 billion dollars of aluminum-lithium alloys for the production of aircrafts.

The aircraft producers are looking forward more cheap, as well as strong and light aluminum-lithium alloys instead of titanium and composites, as said earlier, it is cheaper and also, much more fuel efficient than other commodities used, which has been an important part of cost spend in the industry, and also low maintenance cost. The plant will also focus on the production of aluminum ingots which would be supplied among aircraft producers, these ingots are guaranteed to be 50 percent larger than the firm’s competitor’s product.

The company also occupies the highest position in the production of aluminum-lithium extrusions and also [played an important role in the production of Airbus A350, Airbus A380, Gulfstream G650 and Boeing 787. The new plant of the company provides with aluminum-lithium products such as, forged, extruded and rolled parts.
