SEOUL (Scrap Monster): Trade sources indicate that the state-run agency Public Procurement Service (PPS) of South Korea has purchased 5,000 tonnes of aluminum through various tenders during the past week.
PPS is believed to have bought 1,000 tonnes of aluminum from Glencore. The western-origin aluminum was procured at a premium of $234.9 per tonne over LME cash price on CIF delivery at Incheon port. The second winner of the same tender was Dreample. PPS will buy 1,000 tonnes of western-origin aluminum at a premium of $231.5 per tonne CIF over LME cash rates. The port of delivery will be Incheon.
Another tender was won by LG International to sell 2,000 tonnes of Indian-origin aluminum at a higher premium of $236.5 per tonne CIF for delivery at Incheon port. Dreample also won another tender for 1,000 tonnes of non-western origin aluminum to be delivered CIF at Busan port. The transaction price was fixed at a premium of $226.5 per tonne over LME cash price.
The state-run agency had stockpiled 10,000 tonnes of aluminum during the month of August this year at a premium ranging between $223.8 per tonne and $227.8 per tonne.
The Public Procurement Service (PPS) of the Republic of Korea purchases goods and services including construction works on behalf of public organizations. PPS is also responsible for the effective management of government owned goods and properties. The agency also stockpiles raw materials in order to ensure price stability and supply-demand balance.
