ASEAN HRC Steel import prices remain flat at $542 a ton

SINGAPORE (Scrap Register): ASEAN hot rolled cold (HRC) steel import prices (CFR ASEAN port) remained flat week-on-week to $542 a ton in the week ended August 15, as per the latest figures released by The Steel Index.

According to TSI, ASEAN HRC index fell slightly w-o-w, averaging $542 a ton CFR ASEAN port. Chinese steel producers were highly active this week with a number of exports into the ASEAN region.

Chinese public offers for HRC SAE grades were largely unchanged at $540-550 a ton, although deals were done in the $538-545 a ton range.

SS400 cargoes were concluded around $520 a ton or higher until Friday when the latest trades reportedly fell. Japanese HRC offers stood at $580 a ton and Indian material at $560 a ton, but both stoked little interest.
