China’s MIIT Lists Another15.37 Mln KVAH of Outdated Lead-Acid Battery Capacities for Elimination

SHANGHAI, Aug. 20 (SMM) – Another 15.37 million KVAH of inefficient lead-acid battery capacities in China are targeted for eliminated this year, according to the second list of backward capacities for elimination in 2014 released by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) August 18.

17 lead-acid battery producers located in 7 regions, including Jiangsu, Anhui, Jiangxi, Guangdong, Chongqing, Fujian, and Sichuan, are required to phase out 9.7 million KVAH of polar plate capacities and 5.69 million KVAH of battery assembly capacities this year.

The MIIT published the first group of backward capacities scheduled for elimination this year on its website July 8, including 8.48 million KVAH of polar plate and 5.31 million KVAH of battery assembly capacities in the elimination plan.
