Baltic sea freight index hits above 1,000 points on Aug. 15

The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange for bigger vessels rose further to above 1,000 points on Friday due to higher rates for bigger vessels.

LONDON (Scrap Register): The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange for bigger vessels rose further to above 1,000 points on Friday due to higher rates for bigger vessels.
 
The overall index, which factors in average daily earnings of capesize, panamax, supramax and handysize dry bulk transport vessels, climbed by 73 points or 7.75 percent to 1,015 points.
 
The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange is the rate which tracks for ships carrying dry bulk commodities.
