World’s Largest Undiscovered Coking Coal Province to See $222 Mln Coking Coal Project Settled There

MAPUTO (Scrap Monster): Sol Mineração Mozambique, the subsidiary of Sunflag Iron and Steel Company has decided to make an investment of about $222 million for its new coking coal mining projects in mineral rich Tete province.
 
Ravibhusan Bhardwej, Sol Mineração Mozambique Director said that the feasibility studies conducted there showed that there is about 115.46 million tonnes of coal and only 44.9 million tonnes among of them can be processed commercially, which includes 17.3 million tonnes of coking coal and 27.6 million tonnes of steam coal.
 
Esperança Bias, the Mozambique Mineral Resources Minister said that the mining concession in the Mutarara district on Tete province granted to the Indian company was valid for 25 years.
 
It is estimated that the Mozambique’s Tete Province has about 6.7 billion tonnes of coking coal reserves, of which 3 billion are of sub-economic or economic grades. The Tete province is considered as the world’s largest undiscovered coking coal province and it can contribute about 25 pct of world’s coking coal by the year 2025.
