Average Operating Rate at Chinese Primary Lead Smelters Down to 59.23% in July

Industry News 05:52:23PM Aug 13, 2014 Source:SMM

SHANGHAI, Aug. 13 (SMM) – The average operating rate at Chinese primary lead smelters fell to 59.23% during July, down 0.27 percentage point from June’s 59.50%.

SMM surveyed 49 smelters with a total capacity of 4.705 million tpy, which produced a total of 236,700 tonnes of refined lead in July.

The fractional fall in the average operating rate was largely a result of smelters maintenance and output cuts in July.

Previously, SMM expected the average operating rate in July to rise slightly, but Anhui Tongguan Nonferrous Metals and the Zhuzhou Smelter Group failed to resume production from maintenance as forecast, dragging down overall output.
