SHANGHAI, Jul. 22 (SMM) – The Port of Zhuengadabuqi, Inner Mongolia imported 306 tonnes of zinc ore powder, valued 1.12 million yuan ($182,277), for the first time from Mongolia’s Tumurtin Ovoo zinc mine, Shanghai Metals Market learnt.

The Tumurtin Ovoo zinc mine, with reserves totaling 7.60 million tonnes, is about 300 km away from the Port of Zhuengadabuqi, and 100,000 tonnes of zinc ore powder are expected to be imported via the port each year as the railway to the port is opened to traffic.

The mine is invested and explored by China Non-ferrous Metal Industry’s Foreign Engineering and Construction Co. Before this, the Port of Erenhot imports 100,000 tonnes of zinc ore powder each year since the Tumurtin Ovoo zinc mine came online August 28, 2005.
