SHANGHAI, Mar. 31 (SMM) – China’s imports of tin ore and concentrate in February 2014 dropped 84.7% from January’s record high of 18,966 tonnes, to 2,902 tonnes, due mainly the Chinese New Year holiday, Customs data showed.

The import volume was down 9.2% from the same period a year ago, while total imports during the first two months of 2014 grew by 4.9% year-on-year to 21,868 tonnes.

Myanmar remained the top suppliers, claiming 92% of China’s imports in January and 88% of imports in February.

Tin ore imported through border trade in small amounts made up 73% of total imports in January, while 61% of imports were inbound and outbound goods in Bonded Supervision Areas in February.
