China's NPI output in February was 41,700 tonnes (Ni content), up 2.96% from January’s 40,500 tonnes, and 12.55% from 37,100 tonnes in the same period last year, according to SMM data.

SHANGHAI, Mar. 20 (SMM) – China's NPI output in February was 41,700 tonnes (Ni content), up 2.96% from January’s 40,500 tonnes, and 12.55% from 37,100 tonnes in the same period last year, according to SMM data.

Output of high-grade NPI grew 2% MoM to 35,700 tonnes (Ni content). The release of RKEF capacity in south China offset output drop in Jiangsu province from nickel ore shortfalls. Medium-grade NPI output also rose 33.33% MoM. With more production resumption at producers, medium-grade NPI output is expected to grow further in March. Low-grade NPI output remained unchanged MoM due to sluggish #200 stainless steel market.
