SMM Rare Earth Weekly Survey: China Rare Earth Markets Remain Anemic (Jan. 6-10, 2014)

SHANGHAI, Jan. 6 (SMM) – Last week, prices for rare earth products remained low. Downstream buyers did not show strong appetite for replenishing stocks despite the approach of the Chinese New Year holiday, leaving transactions sparse. As a result, some SMEs were forced to sell at lower prices, but large enterprises still held quotations firm, reluctant to move goods at low prices. SMM expects rare earth markets to remain sluggish, but prices will drop marginally as most producers will still be unwilling to cut prices for sales.
