China Manganese Ore Market Movement (2013-10-11)

Price Review & Forecast 05:36:12PM Oct 11, 2013 Source:SMM

SHANGHAI, Oct. 11 (SMM) –

Manganese Ore Market:
Approximately 200,000 mt of manganese ore has arrived in China since October 1st, as traders stepped up imports out of optimism over future prices. However, growing supply will weigh on manganese ore prices, given that demand failed to pick up markedly.

Transactions:
In northern ports, a small amount of South African manganese ore (fines) was traded. In southern ports, small quantities of South African manganese ore (lump) were sold.

Manganese Alloy Market:
Silicomanganese alloy producers are largely producing to order books, so supply remains tight. Some are considering production halts since power tariffs in parts of south China have been raised with the onset of dry season. As such, supply will remain tight.

Steel Market:
Market players widely note no reason for optimism in steel prices during October.
