Turkish reinforced bar exports dropped nearly 6% in H1/2013

According to data released by Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), the total exports of rebar including round bar during the first half of the year has declined by nearly 6% year-on-year.

ANKARA (Scrap Monster) : According to the most recent data released by Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), the total exports of rebar including round bar during the first half of the year has declined by nearly 6% year-on-year.

As per TUIK, the total rebar exports by the country during the period from January to June this year amounted to 4.1 million mt. The total exports dropped by 5.95% when compared to the exports during corresponding period the previous year. The export revenues have also dropped by 13.6% year-on-year to reach $2.4 billion during the six-month period.

The top export destination for Turkish rebar products during H1 2013 was Iraq. The exports to Iraq totaled 692,850 mt, rising 20% over the total exports of 577,325 mt during H1 2012. The exports to the UAE totaled 521,326 mt, higher by 12% year-on-year. The exports to Yemen too increased by 43% to reach 341,023 mt during H1 2013.

The Turkish rebar exports to Saudi Arabia, the US, Ethiopia and Israel witnessed sharp fall during the six-month period from January to June this year. On the other hand, the exports to Libya, Peru and Panama saw significant boost during the period.
