Copper Concentrate
In May, China's copper concentrate imports were 729,400 mt (physical volume), or 190,000 mt (copper volume), the lowest single monthly import amount for the year except February. Spot TC/RC for copper concentrate generally fluctuated during May between USD 70-80/mt or USD 7.0-8.0/lbs, but the suspension of production at Indonesia’s Grasberg copper mine following a tunnel collapse disrupted deliveries. The resumption of production at Indian copper smelters in early June, which were shut down due to pollution issues, also caused deliveries of ores to China to fall. In mid-June, spot TC/RC fell to USD 70-75/mt (USD 7.0-7.5/lbs).
