Silicon Metal Prices Remain Stable, Operating Rates Lower than Expected (2013-5-30)

On May 30, mainstream traded prices for silicon metal in China remained stable, but most overseas purchasers and domestic downstream buyers were bearish to future prices.
SHANGHAI, May 31 (SMM) – On May 30, mainstream traded prices for silicon metal in China remained stable, but most overseas purchasers and domestic downstream buyers were bearish to future prices. Thus, operating rates at silicon metal producers in Yunnan and Sichuan province remained relatively low. Most transactions were made for #553 silicon metal recently, but supply of #553 silicon metal remained tight as producers were not optimistic to market outlook and unwilling to stock goods at ports. As such, spot prices in several regions showed slight increase.
