China Manganese Ore Market Movement (2013-5-24)

SHANGHAI, May 24 (SMM) -

Overseas News:

CML will release its earnings report for the first quarter of 2013 on May 30, 2013. Alon Refining Krotz Springs announced it has scheduled a conference call for its current bondholders to be held on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. Central time (3:30 p.m. Eastern) to discuss its financial results for the first quarter of 2013.

Domestic Market:

Manganese ore trading at ports remained stagnant. Jiangsu Shagang Group’s silicomangan alloy bid prices for June rose RMB 100/mt compared with May. Electricity prices in south China will be cut by RMB 0.02-0.05/kwh at the end of this month, which will allow production costs at manganese alloy producers to drop RMB 100-200/mt. This, coupled with the RMB 100/mt rise in silicomangan alloy bid price, will push down overall production costs at silicomangan alloy producers by RMB 200-300/mt from the previous month. In this context, operating rates at alloy producers will rebound slightly, and this will boost demand for manganese ore and drive manganese ore prices up.

Transactions:

In southern ports, inquires for manganese ore, especially mainstream category, increased and trading was modest.
