The silicomanganese alloy market was poor, with traders purchasing cautiously so as to reduce risks.
SHANGHAI, Apr. 3 (SMM) – The silicomanganese alloy market was poor, with traders purchasing cautiously so as to reduce risks. SMM sources report operating rates in Inner Mongolia were 65%, while operating rates in Yunnan were as low as 23.8%. The policy to lower electricity prices in the high-water season has yet to be decided, and most alloy producers report bidding prices by steel plants have been close to their cost lines, and continuing production will push them to losses. If steel plants in south China lower bidding prices, most alloy producers will suspend production.
