China’s fluorite exports surged after China cancelled export tariff on fluorite on January 1, 2013.

SHANGHAI, Mar. 13 (SMM) – China’s fluorite exports surged after China cancelled export tariff on fluorite on January 1, 2013. According to China Customs, China exported 9,793 mt of fluorite (HS Code 25292200, calcium fluoride content>97%) during January, nine fold higher than the same period last year.

SMM data reveals that China exported 260,000 mt of fluorite (HS Code 25292200) during 2012, accounting for a mere 60% of exports in 2011. However, China’s fluorite exports recovered appreciably in January this year following the cancellation of export tariff. China’s fluorite was mainly exported to Japan, South Korea and Belgium, with Guangdong, Hunan, Inner Mongolia and Zhejiang the major exporting provinces.

SMM believes China’s fluorite exports will continue to grow due to the cancellation of export tariff. Meanwhile, domestic fluorite prices will go up as a result, pushing up production costs for Chinese fluoride salt producers.
