Average Operating Rate at Brass Bar Producers Down Slightly to 53.3% in January

SMM Insight 01:31:35PM Jan 22, 2013 Source:SMM

SHANGHAI, Jan. 22 (SMM) – SMM's latest survey confirmed that the average operating rate at brass bar producers was 53.3% in January, down slightly from December, due largely to the approaching of the Chinese New Year holiday. Besides, these producers have generally been collecting payments before the holiday, and thus scaled back production. They were more inclined to finish old orders in stead of accepting new ones to avert financial risks, another factor behind the falling average rate. Meanwhile, small and medium brass bar producers suffered tight credit, with some producers even suspending operations than normal time, which led to a decline in the average operating rate at these surveyed brass bar producers.
