China Silicomanganese Alloy Market Movement: Silicomanganese Alloy Prices Stay Stable (2013-1-14)

The silicomanganese alloy market remained steady today.
SHANGHAI, Jan. 14 (SMM) – The silicomanganese alloy market remained steady today. SMM sources report steel prices rose while transactions contracted. Domestic steel prices were up recently due to positive macroeconomic news and rebounding billet prices and capital market. But demand for steel weakened due to the low demand season, causing trading volumes to shrank, with prices for major steel categories fluctuating at low levels.
Meanwhile, spot silicomanganese alloy supply is sufficient. SMM believes as demand for steel has yet to improve, and since steel plants will suspend and conduct maintenance at blast furnaces, domestic silicomanganese alloy prices lack momentum to rise. SMM sources report steel plants have almost finished silicomanganese alloy purchasing, and some have advanced purchases for February.
