Inquiries from downstream alloy producers were sparse in Chinese manganese ore market.
SHANGHAI, Jan. 7 (SMM) -- Inquiries from downstream alloy producers were sparse in Chinese manganese ore market. The limited arrival of goods and bad weather negatively affected shipments of goods at south ports. In addition, traders at ports were still strongly reluctant to move goods, as they expected that manganese ore prices would advance in February. Based on SMM survey result, overseas suppliers may release prices of manganese ore for February delivery in advance and may likely hike offers.
As most alloy producers have already replenished stocks, they only purchase goods in limited volume. According to most alloy producers, they feel that port prices are relatively high.
