Dollar Jumps to Mid-86 Yen Level in Early Tokyo Deals

The U.S. dollar traded at about 86. 50 yen range in early Tokyo trading Friday, hitting the highest level since early August 2010.

TOKYO, Dec. 28 -- The U.S. dollar traded at about 86. 50 yen range in early Tokyo trading Friday, hitting the highest level since early August 2010.

At 9 a.m. local time, the dollar was quoted at 86.50-51 yen, compared with 86.05-15 yen in New York and 85.64-65 yen at 5 p.m. in Tokyo.

The euro fetched 1.3247-3248 dollars and 114.60-61 yen against 1.3231-3241 dollars and 113.91-114.01 yen in New York compared with 1.3249-3250 dollars and 113.47-51 yen at 5 p.m. in Tokyo.
