SHANGHAI, Sept. 20 (SMM) – Spot copper offers were between discounts of negative RMB 30-120/mt in Shanghai in the morning business. Traded prices for standard-quality copper were between RMB 59,770-59,900/mt, and RMB 59,840-60,070/mt for high-quality copper. SHFE copper prices fell from initially rising as HSBC China’s PMI remained below 50, so market optimism towards future copper prices became cautious. Spot copper supply increased and was also diversified, causing spot copper discounts to expand. Traders chose opportunities to enter markets, while downstream producers still bought to order, keeping market transactions modest.
