Updated: 2012-05-23 BEIJING (China Daily) - Central government departments should continue to buy made-in-China products when implementing the government procurement policy, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) said Tuesday.

In a statement on government procurement management, the MOF said central government departments should also support energy-saving and environmentally-friendly products and purchase copyrighted software.

The statement reiterated strict regulations on purchasing imported products, saying the purchase of imported items that fall into categories in which the domestic industries are fully developed should be prohibited.

Those government departments that import quite a number of products should establish an in-house review mechanism to check applications for imported items according to strict standards, the MOF said in the statement.

The MOF also bans government departments from purchasing luxury office supplies.
