SHANGHAI, Feb. 28 (SMM) –SMM's latest survey of 20 major domestic electric wire and cable producers yielded the following insights with regard to March orders:

63% of electric wire and cable producers contacted by SMM said March orders are unlikely to rise. Construction projects in North China have been slow due to cold weather, so the traditional high demand period for electric wire and cable will unlikely arrive during March. Besides, the detailed plans for domestic power investment haven't been listed out, power bidding projects from the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) and China Southern Power Grid (CSG) are expected to emerge in April. Hence, electric wire and cable orders are not estimated to rise during March.

32% of producers SMM surveyed are positive towards March's orders for electric wire and cable. As the Chinese New Year holiday of 2012 came in earlier, wire and cable demand is relatively sluggish. Despite the arrival of the traditional high demand period, wire and cable orders will increase as related projects go into normal compared with inadequate order volumes during February.

5% of these electric wire and cable producers cannot predict March orders.
