SHANGHAI, Feb. 14 (SMM) –SMM recently conducted a survey of 20 major domestic copper tube/pipe producers concerning orders for February.
Based on the survey, 70% producers expect copper tube/pipe orders to increase during February. Orders during February should rise from January following the Chinese New Year holiday, but not be optimistic from the previous year. Fewer workers at copper tube/pipe producers resumed working during the first week of February, and copper tube/pipe orders just began to increase in the second week. Cold weather and difficulties in construction are also expected to exert influence on the consumption of copper tube/pipes.
20% producers surveyed by SMM believe February's orders will hold flat with those in January. Only a small number of these producers say orders are adequate in February, while most of them say copper tube/pipe orders in February will not change, or fall to yearly lows on account of downstream enterprise low willingness in building up stocks of air-conditioners.
The remaining 10% producers cannot predict copper tube/pipe orders during February. Demand was softer than expected, they will try to increase orders, though.
