Chinese shares opened slightly lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.09 percent to open at 2,291.81.

BEIJING, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- Chinese shares opened slightly lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.09 percent to open at 2,291.81.

The Shenzhen Component Index opened at 9,259.64, down 0.08 percent.
