Brazil’s southeastern state of Minas Gerais created a mining tax on the exploration of iron ore and other minerals that are not processed in the state.

Brazil’s southeastern state of Minas Gerais created a mining tax on the exploration of iron ore and other minerals that are not processed in the state, Valor Economico Reported, citing Minas’s finance secretary, Leonardo Colombini.

The tax, which will equal to 2.3291 reais per ton of output this year, may de disputed by mining companies, the Sao Paulo- based newspaper reported, citing industry association Sindiextra.
