SMM Morning Review - 2011/10/17 Zinc Market

LME zinc prices fluctuated between USD 1,930-1,950/mt, closing at USD 1,928.5/mt, up USD 3.5/mt.

SHANGHAI, Oct. 17 (SMM) – Last Friday, China's CPI for September fell, showing China has taken effective measures in the year to curb inflation. Meanwhile, US retail sales for September unexpectedly rose 1.1%, much higher than the forecast of 0.5%. In this context, LME zinc prices fluctuated between USD 1,930-1,950/mt, closing at USD 1,928.5/mt, up USD 3.5/mt. SHFE three-month zinc contract prices should move between RMB 15,150-15,350/mt today, and spot prices should be close to or RMB 50/mt higher than SHFE 1112 zinc contract prices.
