DJ Zambia Chambishi Copper Miners End Strike After Winning 100% Pay Rise

Miners at Chinese-owned Chambishi Copper Mine ended a six-day strike Monday after management offered them a 100% pay rise, union officials said.

Oct 10, 2011 (Dow Jones) -- Miners at Chinese-owned Chambishi Copper Mine ended a six-day strike Monday after management offered them a 100% pay rise, union officials said.

Hundreds of miners reported for the afternoon shift Monday after winning a pay rise which brought to an end the dispute which had largely been inspired by the election victory of Michael Sata, a strong critic of Chinese investments in the country's mining sector.
