Two New Aluminum Foil and Strip Projects Initiated

SHANGHAI, Sep.21 (CBI China) -- The BERIS Engineering and Research Corporation held negotiations with Henan Yichuan Power Industrial Group at the recent International Aluminum Processing Expo, and the two parties signed a engineering design contract for the first phase of a 500kt p.a. aluminum foil and strip project.

    Alcan has also signed a joint venture agreement with Chinese foil producer, Dingsheng Aluminum, to construct a hot rolling plate mill in Zhejiang Province.  The green-field facility will produce heat-treated aluminum plates with advanced patented alloys for the aerospace and general engineering markets. 

    Alcan is the majority partner in the project, which is still subject to approval by the Chinese Central Government and the Alcan board. Privately owned Dingsheng has production bases in Zhenjiang and Hangzhou cities of Zhejiang Province, and has the capacity to produce 150kt p.a. of aluminum foil and strip.

    Large domestic and international processors and developers are accelerating investments in China's aluminum processing industry.  The rapid development of the industry has broadened applications of aluminum products and its use to replace other metals.
