SHANGHAI, April. 20 (CBI China)--Fixed asset investment in China's copper smelting industry totaled RMB386 million during January and February 2007, an increase of 4.8% YoY, indicating that overheated investments have been brought under control. Green field expansion took up RMB209 million of total investment.

Since 2005, the Central Government has carried out a series of measures to curb the rapid and somewhat irrational growth in the copper smelting industry. In 2006, fixed asset investment in the domestic copper smelting industry totaled RMB11.69 billion. The investment growth rate in this field in 2006 declined by 75.7% YoY.
