Nikkei Opens 4.55% Lower
Mar 17, 2011 09:59TOKYO, Mar. 17 -- Tokyo stocks opened sharply lower Thursday with the key Nikkei index plunging 4.55 percent.
At 9:15 a.m. local time, the benchmark Nikkei 225 Average lost 413.61 points to 8,680.11.
The broader Topix index was down 33.66 points to 783.97.
