SHANGHAI, Jun. 1 (SMM) -- According to data from SMM, China's NPI physical output in April were 391.9kt, or 20kt of refined nickel after conversion. China's NPI physical output was up 78% YoY and up 8% MoM. China's refined nickel output, after conversion, was up 155.35% YoY and 15% MoM.
The relatively rapid growth of metal output is mainly attributed to expanding of NPI producers with electric arc furnaces as well as the increasing new projects and transformed projects. It is expected that NPI metal output is expected to grow further. Meanwhile, as demand for (4-6%) NPI and (1.7-1.8%) NPI reduced, production will be shifted or halted in June at NPI producers with blast furnaces, resulting in reducing contribution of NPI output.
