SHANGHAI, Mar. 24 -- The Aluminum Corporation of China (CHALCO), China's largest aluminum producer, announced on March 19th that it has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) to jointly develop nonferrous materials used for aerospace industry.
According to the agreement, two companies will give full play to their respective industrial advantages, strengthen the combination of nonferrous metal materials with aerospace industry, promote the development of nonferrous metal new materials and new technologies with the space industrial demand as the drive, support the development of aerospace science and technology with advanced nonferrous metal materials, and realize the strategic objectives of mutual benefit and win-win situation. As to specific areas of cooperation, the two sides will strengthen the development and application research of aluminum, copper, and other new materials used for aerospace, strengthen and promote the application of aerospace technologies in mining, metallurgy, and material processing fields, enhance the cooperation in scientific and technological innovation and business areas, and establish the personnel exchanges and information sharing mechanism.
CASC is the leading force of China's aerospace industry, and is a state-owned large enterprise with highlighted innovation capacity and strong core competition. CHALCO is China's largest nonferrous metal company, and is one of world top 500 enterprises. Special aluminum alloy, copper alloy, and titanium alloy produced by CHALCO have become the important materials used for aerospace and national defense sectors including "Changzheng" series of rockets, and "Shenzhou" series of spacecrafts. The further cooperation of two companies will accelerate the development of China's space and metallurgical industries, and will make greater contribution to China's economic and social development, the modernization of national defense, and the progress of aerospace science and technology.
