YICHANG, Feb. 10 -- Yi Chang Three Gorges Quan Tong Colored and Galvanized Plate Co Ltd China has awarded to Tenova of Italy contracts for the supply of two high speed Electrolytic Tinning Lines equipped with insoluble anodes technology and two high speed Electrolytic Chromium Coating Lines. The lines each have an annual production capacity of 250,000 tpy.

The insoluble anodes technology is a proprietary system developed by Tenova. In a press statement the company said that "the proven technology of this system allows achieving a very low tin loss in the sludge (less than 4%) and several other advantages ranging from cost savings to the environmental compatibility of the plant, from easier operating procedures to higher operational safety."

The four lines will produce tinplate and ECCS (tin-free steel) for the high quality end of the Chinese packaging market and could be in production by the middle of 2011.
