Reappearance of Electric Power Supply Shortage in Guizhou Province

SHANGHAI, Dec. 11 (SMM) -- As industrial economy robustly recovering during the electricity peak demand period in winter, electric power have experienced a supply shortage.

Sources from China Southern Power Grid (Guizhou Power Grid) report that electricity sales volume of Guizhou Power Grid from January to November have mounted to 97.9 billion kWh, up16.9% YoY, with 57.1 billion kWh sold to Guizhou province and 40.8 billion kWh sold to other provinces, grown by 30%. The target to increase growth rate of electricity sales volume by 5% is expected be realized in halt a month later.

According to related officials from market department of Guizhou Power Grid, daily average electricity sales volume in Guizhou province are around 200 million kWh, and electrical load exceed 10 million kWh, hitting a historical high. In order to guarantee security of power network and supply of electricity, electric power control policy has been adopted by related authorities at present. The controlled electrical load has already reached 1 million kWh.

Sources report electric power supply shortage is caused by increasing demand from recovered industrial economy under the macro economic stimulus package. Industrial economy recovered significantly in Guizhou province, currently, prices of main industrial products like yellow phosphorus and aluminum have advanced significantly, with prices of yellow phosphorus rising by RMB 1000/mt.
