SHANGHAI, June 30 (CBI China) -- According to foreign media, prices of imported manganese ore grew to USD 3.15-4/lbs from USD 3-4/lbs due to the increased demand for manganese ore from Chinese ferromanganese and silicon-manganese industries.

Manganese ore prices became strong, as Chinese steelmakers returned to manganese ore markets over past three weeks. Sources report that the major manganese ore producers - BHP Billton and Eramet intended to increase the output of manganese ore. However, news reported more production cuts would appear in the market one month ago. Besides, manganese ore price is expected to rise further, if the freight charge grows and the South African appreciates.
