[Vraj Iron Advances Environmental Clearance Process for Raipur Steel Project]
Vraj Iron and Steel received fresh Terms of Reference from India’s Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change on October 14 for its proposed greenfield steel project in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The approval defines the scope of environmental studies required, enabling the company to proceed with its environmental impact assessment and public consultation before seeking final environmental clearance. It represents a preliminary regulatory step and does not authorise construction or production. The proposed project includes annual capacities of 900,000 tonnes of pellets, 462,000 tonnes of direct reduced iron, 412,500 tonnes of induction-furnace steelmaking and 392,700 tonnes of rolled products.
