SteelFab Inc., the steel fabricator company is to invest $39 million to expand its facility at South Carolina. This will create a new 108 jobs and will expand the portfolio of SteelFab facilities across US. This will be targeted to fabricate the steel parts of U.S. Naval defense purposes.

A downturn industry affects Liberty Steel workers at its Bartonville, Ill., facility face furloughs, but the company spokeperson say that this is temporary. Some of the workers were furloughed starting 20 July 2026 and this will impact the steel production as this mill is producing things like billets, wire rod, industrial wire, and fencing products.

Spanish Steelmakers Association (UNESID) asks European Union & Spain government to create a more coordinated strategy to protect the importance of steel industry. Geopolitical tensions, global trade wars, a global steel overcapacity, and the high cost of energy cause the disruption of steel industry in Europe. UNESID even urges the Spain or European Union to restrict a law about procurement to prioritize European-made steel in strategic field to ensure decarbonization goals.
